Michelle was a loveable person. She was warm and intelligent. I taught at Tillicum Elementary and appreciated her so much as a principal. She was straightforward but also diplomatic, and such a warm, open person. It was always a pleasure to stop by her office. I really liked her style! For instance, one time when Michelle made a decision that was not universally popular, she did three neat things at a staff meeting: she acknowledged the feelings of those who disagreed, expressed regret at inconveniencing them, and explained why she had to make the decision. Another time her emotional intelligence led her to the opposite conclusion from mine. After listening to her, I said, Michelle, youre right. I guess thats why youre a principal and Im not! ;-) Once I told her, Michelle, you do so many mitzvahs, and it was still true even when she was sick. When she smiled, her face lit up. I can hear Michelles lively voice and see her million dollar smile. My best to her warm, supportive family, whom I had the privilege of meeting at the memorial. I know this must be a very difficult time for you.

I was friends with Michelle (Romy) in the 1980's before she moved to Washington. I have very fond memories of hanging out with Michelle and our mutual friends Alicia and Enid. Michelle had a wonderful sense of humor and a warm smile that would make you smile. Unfortunately, we lost touch awhile after she moved to Washington. I was so sorry to hear of her passing away. I really can't believe it. My condolences to all of Michelle's family and close friends. I hope that they have no more such sorrow. Geula (Tron) Rapp

Dear Beverly, Chana & I just returned from D.C. when we read of Michelle's 'petira' from the pain & travails of This World. Our hearts go out to you and your family. May her numerous good deeds and special influence she had in the lives of her students be a 'malitz yosher' to you and your entire family during this difficult time.

My prayers go out to Austen, Bryan and her loving family. I am sad that I found out too late to attend her memorial service. Michelle and I worked together at Meridian Elementary. She was an inspirational teacher and friend. Her courage, strength and love will forever be a part of us.

As Tami and I look back over our 30 some odd years, it is unbelievable how much family has meant to us. Whether near or far we all always have had family in our hearts, and many photos of our cherished moments. It started back in the 70's with Michelle's yellow smiley face bedroom. Tami and I running around with eager parents following us to catch the moment with the snap of a camera. Our cousin always ready in a pose with Tami or myself on her lap. Why none of us received modeling careers from it, who knows? The years went on and we celebrated many joyous occassions together. There came a time when we had to fly the nest and prepare for our own futures. Miles could not keep the family separated. We are happy that Michelle was able to enjoy her ambitions in life. We will always keep in our hearts the true family memories and cherished moments. The memories of Michelle will not only be preserved in photos, but in our hearts forever! We will miss you Michelle! Love, Alissa and Tami

i remember in 1974 seeing romy/michelle twirling on the ice with the greatest of elegance. her short dorothy hamill haircut swirling out as she turned and turned on her ice skates. even as a young girl, she was determined, confident, and a dear friend. druing her lifetime she listened, taught, shared, and constantly amazed me. i am not surprised that she had great success, but i was always surprised at how the pieces of the quilt of her life came together in such richness and texture. i miss you, and i love you, paula

Dear Beverly, Nancy and Susan, my heart is saddened by the loss of your Michelle. I didn't know Michelle, but I think I can hear her say: '. . . Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes we enjoyed together. Play, smile, think of me, pray for me. Let my name be ever the household word that it always was. With love to each of you.
