Obituary of Eleanor Ann Clarkson

Eleanor Ann Clarkson quietly passed away February 28, 2006. She was in the comfort of her beloved family. Ann as she liked to be called was born in Seattle, WA on March 2, 1925 She attended Fauntleroy Grade School in West Seattle and Graduated from West Seattle High School. During this time like everyone else she lived through the depression. This experience was a major influence on her values and work ethics. After high school she attended WSU. During this time she met Russell F. Clarkson. He was attending flight training to be a pilot for the Army Air Corp. With the intensity of WWII magnifying Russell was shipped off to England before he could finish flight school but not before marrying the only love of his life Ann in Pyote Texas and fathering their first child. After the War Russ and Ann moved back to West Seattle and raised a family of three children. Here Ann was active in all aspects of her children’s lives. She would be “Room Mother” at school, she would be Den Mother for the Scouts, and she devoted her love and happiness of her family. Ann loved Music and Traveling. She and Russ would pack up the kids in a car with tent, later a trailer and later still in a boat to travel the NW and Country. Every weekend would be a different adventure. After retiring the two of them continued to criss-cross America each year in a motor home absorbing every region’s highlights and sites. A fond lover of Animals she was always encompassed with dogs and cats. In 1976 they moved to the summer cabin on the shores of Oakland Bay in Shelton WA. The family celebrated every holiday and occasion allowed. This was the life. It was a long ways from the depression to the beach in Shelton and she made the best of it. She is now back with Russ and will be missed by all. Eleanor is survived by her Sister, Jeanne (Robert) Middleton, 2 Daughters Elizabeth Sathre and Barbara (Keith) Stinson, Son Mark (Sara) Clarkson, 4 Grandchildren, and 5 Great-Grand Children. A graveside service will be held 2:00 PM Friday, March 10, 2006 at Lakeview Cemetery 1554 15th Ave. E., North Capital Hill, Seattle, WA. Arrangements by Edwards Memorial Center, 253-566-1008, 3005 Bridgeport Way W., University Place, WA 98466.
