Obituary of Penelope Perry

Penelope Perry began her life at Dyess AFB, Texas on February 5, 1973 and ended her life suddenly on June 10, 2020.  As a military dependent she was open to moving and spent her time in Grissom AFB, Indiana, McChord AFB, Washington, Altus AFB, Oklahoma and then back here to McChord.  Her southern accent would show when talking to someone form the south. 

Penny graduated from Washington High School in 1991 and attended Pierce College.  Shortly after starting collage, she began her professional working career as a lab assistant in an ecological lab, moved on to assisting with reports being written to the register pesticides/herbicides with the EPA.  She finished her career working as an adjudicator for a private contractor working for the government.  

Penny became a beautiful and loving woman with a great giving personality and enjoyed taking care of friends and family.  She would often make personalized presents for fellow workers, new babies and family.  She didn’t have a specific hobby but was very creative and artistic.   She was talented in painting, sewing, cooking, and gardening.  She grew up fishing, camping, and was well versed in car repair. 

She loved animals and her first dog, Tigger greeted her when she came home from the hospital.  She also convinced her father that she needed a cat, Winnie.  Her Dad said if Tigger would accept the cat (he didn’t like cats coming into his yard), she could have one.  Winnie was a kitten and soon became Tigger’s kitten.  That was only the beginning of her life with cats and dogs.  Since then she took care of our stray/unwanted dogs Annie, Lexi, Gidget, Tyson, Peppen, Merry, Charlie and Faith.  And the cats, Toby, Checkers, Elliot, Ziggy, and Leo. 

She is survived by her parents, Lew and Janece Perry and sister Jacqueline (Chase) Perry-Rogers.  Her other sister, Stephanie, lost her battle with cancer and passed away five days after Penny  died.

Penny requested no memorial service but friends and family should get together and celebrate her life.  She will be missed.  In lieu of flowers, please support your favorite charity.  Penny supported St. Jude and Seattle Children’s Hospital.
