Obituary of Donna Ann Shofner

Donna Ann Shofner, 10-3-1026 – 1-24-2021

Donna Ann (Messerschmidt) Shofner was born to Nicholas & Francis Messerschmidt on October 3rd, 1926 in Colwich, Kansas and passed away January 24th, 2021 in Federal Way, Washington of natural causes at age 94.

Donna was preceded in death by husband, James A. Shofner on October 6th, 2004.

Donna is survived by her 3 children: Rosemary Shofner, 70, Auburn, WA; Jim Shofner, 67, Auburn, WA; John Shofner, 59, Sumner, WA.

Grandson Andy Shofner, 37, Sumner, WA & Great-Grandson Waylon Shofner, 8, Sumner, WA.

Also survived by sisters Dorothy Schmidt, Joplin, Missouri & Virginia Moore, Wichita, Kansas. Along with many nieces & nephews in various parts of the USA.

Donna grew up in rural Colwich, Kansas, West of Wichita in a Catholic family, she was the fifth of eight children. She married James (Jim) Shofner after WWII. They lived in Haysville & Derby, Kansas before moving to Auburn, Washington in 1968 where she lived until her passing.

Donna was skilled at sewing, typing & worked occasionally, but most of the time was a devoted mother, wife & homemaker. She enjoyed planting flowers in the yard & having a Dr. Pepper while doing housework.

Donna will be laid to rest with her husband Jim at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, Washington.

Always good hearted & friendly, she will be very much missed from all who knew her.
