Merlene Townsend

July 9th 1939 - April 2nd 2021

Merlene passed away peacefully at Tacoma General Hospital with her daughter, Tammy, by her side. She is preceded in passing by her two children, Jeff Hardie and Brenda Kerney. She is survived by her four daughters, Michelle Hall, Tammy Hamilton, Julie Esparza and Angie Beabout; her beloved sister Sharon Anderson: as well as sixteen grandchildren and twenty three great-grandchildren.

Lived a simple life in Tacoma WA, in her early days liked to play bingo and spend time cooking meals for her family.  Loved country music, Alan Jackson was her favorite, also loved TV games shows, Price is Right and Wheel of Fortune. Julie and Tammy shared taking care of her, both lived closed and provided her in home care so she could have her wish of being in her home.  She had frequent visits my one of her many children, grandchildren or great grandchildren.  She shared the birthday of July 9th with her beloved sister Sharon Anderson, and made a point of celebrating their special day together every year if possible.  Mom never hesitated to share what was on her mind and was quite demanding and what we would all say sometime "bossy." She loved to be involved in lively conversations never missing out on a chance to join in, sometimes with a sly little laugh to let you know she listening.
