Obituary of Carol Jean Johnson

Carol Jean Johnson, 74 of Graham, WA passed away surrounded by family June 22, 2022.

 

Carol was born on February 2, 1948 to John and Eleanor Gough in Menominee, Michigan where she grew up with 3 siblings, Fran, Bob, and Kathy. 

They enjoyed fishing and swimming in Lake Michigan as well as visiting their grandparents' farm in Pelkie. 

Her family moved from Menominee to Renton in 1962, the year of the world's fair. They settled in the Cascade Vista neighborhood 

and in 1966 she graduated from Renton High School.

Upon graduating high school Carol worked in Cascade Vista at Andy's Drive In. She then was employed by Western Electric in Kent and went on to work

at Pacific Northwest Bell in the Tri Cities area of Washington. Here she worked as a woman lineman along with a handful of women pioneering 

this field. From there, she went to work for the University of Washington in the telecommunications department where she ultimately retired in 2011.

 

Carol liked the outdoors and loved fishing, camping and spending time with family. She loved reading, coffee and made a delicious macaroni salad.

She was preceded in death by her brother Francis Gough of Bonney Lake WA and her nephew Michael Gough of Denver, CO.

She is survived by three children: Kathleen (Paul) Van Dyken of Spanaway, Terry (Hilda O'Crotty) Johnson of Bonney Lake, Bradley (LouAnn) Johnson of Kennewick, 

Two grandchildren: Justin Van Dyken, Lana (Kirsten Grant) Van Dyken.

A Memorial Service  will be held on:

September 10, 2022 from 11-2.
