Obituary of Virginia M Kennedy

Virginia M Kennedy died on January 30, surrounded by the love of her family at home. Virginia ( Ginger ) was born November 19, 1932 in Tacoma,WA, she was 90 years old at the time of her death.

Her parents were James Laurence Manley and Myra Jane Drake.

 

Ginger M. Manley married William Gordon Kennedy ( Bill ) 

July 22,1950, at St Leo’s Catholic Church, Tacoma. They were married 72 years.

 

By 1956 they had four children, Janey, Michael, James

and Lorie.

 

Ginger and Bill moved fromTacoma to Burley, Kitsap County in the 1960’s, where they lived for 50 years.

When Bill retired from the trucking business in1989 they volunteered for the Washington state parks. During this time they spent 10 summers, traveling all over Washington, hosting at various state and federal parks meeting many wonderful people.

 

Ginger believed all people were created equal and deserved dignity, she wished for a world without hunger, poverty and violence. She gave her family and friends unconditional love and support.

 

Ginger is survived by her daughters Janey,and her husband Roger, Lorie, and her sister Jan.

Her Grandchildren Melissa, Laurie Ann, Jennifer, Kathryn, Danny, Kayla, Jami, Patrick and Aaron.

 20 Great grandchildren and Aunt Ginger to numerous nieces, nephews and greats.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 72 years. Bill, her son’s Michael and Jim, her granddaughter Heather, and her brother Greg Thomas.

Ginger is laid to rest beside her husband, Bill, at Haven of Rest cemetery, Gig Harbor. She will never be forgotten by her family.
